11 am: Screening of "The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil." In Post-Soviet Cuba, the nation lost their source of fossil fuels, fertilizers, pesticides, and most electricity. They learned to survive and avoided starvation by gardening organically in every available space and by relying on community. The lessons they had to learn in desperation are available for us to absorb slowly while we still have time to adjust. A short discussion follows this screening.
