Hi
My name is Helen and I am a long time member of the Allen Garden Club  where I learned a lot about the challenges of gardening in Texas..  I have a moderate sized vegetable garden plus several fruit trees that have a bumper crop even in this heat.
I also am very enthusiastic about herbs and use them regularly.
If there are any questions I will gladly try to answer and share some of what we in the garden club are doing.   We meet the first Thursday in the month at 7 pm at the old Allen Station on old Main St.  all are welcome

Helen, have you figured out how to make tomatoes grow?

I have more trouble with them!

Helen, I added the August meeting to the calendar.  I wish it had an option to create a repeating event, but one of us could add future meetings to the calendar.

As our monthly topics become available I will post them here
As I said before all are welcome
One of our AGC projects is working a small plot at the Community Gardens at Fairview.  All the produce from here is donated to the North Texas Food Bank.  We all take turns maintaining and watering the garden and yesterday was my turn.  I was able to pick some peppers, chard and a tomato to donate to the Food Bank.  I also contributed a huge amount of figs from my trees as they are giving us a bumper crop this year.

That sounds like a good idea.  I'd suggest you create a new topic for each month, and place the month/date in the subject so it gets organized nicely.

My figs are still green, but it looks like I do have a good number of them!

What type of fig trees do you have?  Our two Celeste figs are prolific and ripe right now  The fruit on the 3rd tree is only starting to ripen now....   because of the drought the fruit is smaller then usual but is very sweet.
