We've just relocated (from W. Pa) last summer and are now purchasing a place ne of Dallas.  Finally have enough space for a garden.  Really interested in seeing what grows in the black clay (Tinn Clay), or if we're going to need to amend it alot.  Also new to Forums, so be kind if we mess up a bit at first, everyone's gotta learn something new sometime.

After 60 years north of the Mason-Dixon, we now realize that nobody ever had a heart attack shoveling sunshine!!

I would recommend that you build raised beds, that way you can add good soil
and not wait years for the black gumbo to become tillable.
My daughter & I built a raised bed, 20 X20, lining the outside with rocks to keep
the dirt in place and blend with the landscape.  We grow lots of veggies.
I am also a community garden coordinator in Fairview.  We have 80 raised beds
built of 2x6 boards.  If you are in the area of 75 & stacy road, come see our gardens.  I am always willing to share any info I may have.
