tomatos are not tomatoing and pepperes not peppering

Hi guys,
I must be doing something wrong. I have a large tomato plant that looks really healthy. It has around 50 flowers on it yet I have plucked only two tomatoes from it so far.
I have been watering, mulching, and the occasional fertilizer but no real yield.
The same goes for my pepper plants. Each plant has had one pepper sprout.
Am I doing something wrong here besides averaging about $30 per LB of yield?
Any thoughts?
thanks,
Chad

I wonder if you have a pollination problem? Do you see lots of bees and flying insects around?
Is this season worse than normal for you?

Hi Brian,
I have not seen any bees but I do see lots of over insects and with no damage visible on the plants I am assuming these bugs have been good. I have tried growing tomatoes a few times in the past and I always get the same results to the point that I gave up for a few years. This my first return attempt.
I have read that most tomatoes do not pollinate or ripen when the temps get too hot. Have you found that to be true?
I have seen a couple comments on other sites to promote polination by vibrations or shaking of the plants. I am going to give that a go until I hear other tips.
thanks again,
Chad

The general wisdom is that once we are getting so hot that it stays above 75* at night, then tomatoes stop fruiting. BUT, I know some people get tomatoes in the summer.
I'm about to give up on trying to grow tomatoes. Mine have never done well!
