Our latest paper - "Pecans - General Cultivation & Nutrition" is a guide by our VP-Research, Dr. Larry Zibilske, and is now up on our new webcyte (an Internet biological word), www.AskThePlant.com! It is a 2 mb, 10-page monster with many colour photographs and full discussions on things to think about when contemplating planting Pecans - whether as ornamentals or as an orchard crop.  Click on "Agronomy Notes" and you'll see the listing second down from the top.

This is NOT a scientific treatise - it is a practical, hands-on paper for those who have, or are thinking about growing, Pecans and has many pictures of the symptoms of nutritional problems.  Hope you'll have a look...  Note that the web-page format is necessarily different from the original free, downloadable pdf version.

Uh, WOW, Brian - I never expected that you would go to all the trouble of putting this monster up!  It is the biggest one we've done to-date, you know...  But thought that there would be more people interested in our state tree, than there appear to be...  Dr. Larry's paper was an eye-opener for me...  On the recent trip, I bought a new pecan - that obviously has serious disease and nutritional problems -to replace the Choctaw pictured in the last of the paper.  But I've got it to see if I can overcome the issues by actually doing what we've been preaching - even in the wrong soil with irregular water - at the wrong time of year...

Guess we'll see....

By the way, we're seeing a hugely dramatic upsurge in bid'ness from the Mid West Cornbelt farmers in soybeans, corn, wheat and alfalfa..  And, did you know that there are a lot of vineyards in at least Illinois?...  And...we made a West Texas farmer six bales (of cotton), last year...he only just now came forward and told us...

Gotta whole lotta cool stuff goin' on - 'cause we can make people come out OK, especially in a drought...

Have just pretty well finished up my presentation for the Waxahachie deal (90-something panels) - hope at least some of the readers will come down for it - be certain that it will be thrill-packed!!!
