the horticultural knowledge necessary to sustain a garden; the use in the classroom for the garden across the curriculum; and the resources available to fund a gardening program at a school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Agenda:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Key Note:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Why school gardening?\u00a0 Can it really make a difference?<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Integrating gardening into the day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px;\"><em><em>\u221a\u00a0<\/em>Break Out Sessions specific to the use of garden based lessons in Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Math, Health and Nutrition, Technology, Physical Education, Before and Afterschool, Early Childhood, and With the Parents<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Growing the garden<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 150px;\"><em>\u221a Break Out Sessions specific to needs and expectations for a garden in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3+<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Funding your gardening program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>$100 per school group.\u00a0 Each school is encouraged to bring up to 5 teachers, support staff, administrators or volunteers.\u00a0 Each registration is limited to personnel from a single school.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Lunch will be provided.\u00a0 Every registered school group will leave with a \u201cResource Bag\u201d that includes over $500 in resource materials that will be presented and used over the course of the day.\u00a0 Registration is due by September 16, 2011<\/p>\n<p>\u2192Make checks payable to:\u00a0 AgriLife Extension\u2014Dallas Center.\u00a0 Mail checks and registration forms to:<\/p>\n<p>AgriLife Research and Extension- Dallas Center\u00a0\u00a0 17360 Coit Road\u00a0 Dallas, TX\u00a0 75252\u00a0\u00a0 Attn: Ashley Hutto<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Follow up to the Workshop:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<em>Garden Tour and Conversation<\/em>\u00a0will be hosted on October 29, 2011 from 10am-12n at the Promise of Peace Community Garden for all of the participants to come together to share information and successes, ask questions and network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Expected Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Increased knowledge regarding the benefits of school gardening<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Healthy, thriving\u00a0 school gardens at participant schools<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Integrated use of the garden as a teaching tool across the curriculum and by multiple school personnel<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Financial sustainability of the garden program at each participant school<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0A regional, peer network of educators and support staff working together to ensure mutual success<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Enhancement of the school community environment<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Support of the Coordinated School Health and the CATCH initiative with a thriving school gardening program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"line-height: 24px;\">Related Documents:<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/northtexasvegetablegardeners.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Training-Event-one-pager.pdf\">Training Event one pager<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 16px;
