Glad to find this forum. Grew veggies with the square foot method last summer. Most were just compost after the crazy heat started but got a couple nice harvests of peppers before everything burned up. Decided to try containers this year as the sq foot method is just not workable in the Texas heat. Going to use that bed for herbs.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone and sharing our experiences.

Welcome to the community Marylin! Last summer was tough for sure.
We teach the square foot method in Citizen Gardener, with a few changes:
-deeper beds
-real soil instead of mels mix
-use shade cloth for Texas summer
I can tell you it does work! (We are careful to explain to the students that we teach 'one way' through the journey of vegetable gardening, and there are many other paths)
