Hello from Patrick in Wichita Falls
« on: May 16, 2011, 04:34:42 PM »
My wife and I bought a small house on the outskirts of Wichita Falls a couple years ago. I have always wanted to start a vegetable and herb garden, so we thought we'd give it a try this year. So far we have a couple potted tomato plants and a bell pepper plant. I could use a lot of advice about how/when/where and what to plant. I am not from Texas, so I don't know the local plants very well.

Thanks for being a part of this community Patrick.  I hope you find some good information here, and it should grow into more valuable information as more people join in and contribute.  The best planting schedules I've found were published by local nursery/garden center places.  Have you found a good store in Wichita Falls?   You might also take a look at the ones for Dallas and adjust by the difference in your frost date.  Here in Dallas it is very important to get things out soon in the season because most plants refuse to put out fruit once the the hot days and nights of summer hit.
