Texas Tea Fertilizer - wide price ranges
« on: May 31, 2011, 06:53:15 AM »
I've heard good things about the product "Texas Tea".  It is a 40 pound yellow bag.  Organic fertilizer, no sludge.

North Haven has it priced at $40 /bag.   I saw that Adam's Feed Store in Arlington had it for $20 /bag this past month.   Anyone know where to get it at a consistently good price?

I saw it in Wells Bros Farm Store but didn't check the price.  They have really expanded their organic gardening selection for the fall.

I'm starting to think 'organic' is another name for 'expensive'!

First, let me be up front. My company, Mighty Grow Organics, manufactures and packages organic soil amendments, including a competitor to Texas Tea. I have nothing bad to say about the product.

I spent 25 years in the Dallas area, with my last home in Wylie. I had a one acre lot out of the city limits and cultivated about 1/4 of the property. I know how challening gardening in North Texas can be. I even wrote a blog entry entitled, "Gardening in Hell". :-)

Now to the point at hand. "Organic" does not have to mean expensive. Mighty Grow Living Organic Fertilizer retails on average for $24.99, but is available wholesale for $14 from the plant in Fruitdale, Alabama. How would that help gardeners in North Texas? Well, the CFO for MGO lives in Garland, and we will have a distributor in the Dallas area by this spring. In addition to the 4-5-5 poultry litter based fertilizer, we also have feather meal, sulfate of potash, bone meal, crab meal and biochar.

Good luck on this coming spring, now that you guys have some water. If I can assist, please let me know.
