Hi everyone. I introduced myself earlier today. I have had two in ground gardens in my life. One as kid where I helped out and another in my early 30's when I lived in Euless. Had great experiences with both gardens. Both being very fruitful (productive). Now that I'm older and have bad knee's my husband and I built above ground garden beds. We made one 4' wide by 8' long bed and two 4'x4' beds. We bought good vegetable garden soil from Fossil Creek Nursery and we mixed in a few bags of Miracle grow dirt. The bed is behind my house which faces north and the bed runs east and west in length. We don't have any tree's in the area therefore no shade. Most of our plants burned up but I did get one very small red bell pepper. I planted some new plants and we added a lattice top.
So, no success this year. What did I do wrong? I did forget to mention the depth of the bed is 16 inches deep.
Now we have built a couple beds to add dirt to and let grow into the ground as well as we would really like to have some cucumbers and make some pickles. Is it too late now to grow some cucumbers from seed? I'm guessing it would be okay since we will still have plenty of warm weather but you all are the experienced ones....you tell me. Thank you all.
