Hi everyone!!  I am a SAHM of a 16-month-old girl, Tessa - married to a wonderful, hard-working man, Scott.  We moved to Mansfield about a year ago.  My mother had an incredibly bright green thumb, mine is fairly brown at this stage.  We are building a backyard cedar raised plot to grow organic produce.  At the beginning of summer we planted strawberries, tomatoes, onions, and peppers in a flower bed in our backyard.  Our harvest has slowly dwindled, but my husband was greatly impressed with our bounty.  We decided to make an investment and build a raised cedar garden bed.  Looking forward to planting in it when it is finished! :)  I will post pictures.

I previously bought my sprouted plants at Home Depot, but I'm looking for a reputable greenhouse in the area?  Any recommendations?  We live in Mansfield, off Country Club & Matlock.  I would be willing to drive up to a half hour.  Thank you!!!

Hi!  There are many nurseries in the area.  The one that comes most readily to mind is Calloways - many stores.  Might Google nurseries in Mansfield...

Welcome to the online community!   There is a 'local' part of this forum where we put info about nurseries and other regional things.  (http://northtexasvegetablegardeners.com/forum/index.php?board=17.0)  Looks like I need to add Mansfield as a category.  If you find some places you like (or even dislike) feel free to add them there so others might be helped by your information.

Also want to make you aware of the local planting calendars in case you didn't see them.  Timing seems to be a big adjustment for gardeners who aren't used to our seasons.  (http://northtexasvegetablegardeners.com/forum/index.php?topic=249.0)

Thanks Brian!  Your calendar postings are very helpful!  Our raised bed is all ready for planting.  Planning a trip to the nursery today to hopefully find some transplants - especially lettuce, spinach, & broccoli.  Looks like I will be planting beans, radishes, turnips and beets indoors by seed first.

Well depending on where your at in mansfield there is a Rendenta's in S. Arlington pretty easy to get to from Mansfield just take 287 north to Little Rd Continue north of Little For about 5 lights (maybe 2miles) to Arkansas.  5111 W Arkansas Ln  Arlington, TX 76016  There things are gmo free and once they get the plants they do not use chemicals on them.  Great staff and beneficial bugs and all around good place.

Ditto!  I shop almost exclusively at Redentas.  I live in Mansfield too.  It is the closest and best-- aligned with my values for organic gardening.  I believe that simple demand economics has the greatest sway and influence for change, so I seriously vote with my dollars at establishments that support the direction I desire to see our country drive toward.

Carolyn completely agree with you there.  Our votes do not really matter its all about who has the most cash.  But I vote with my dollars every chance I get.
