Notes from Permaculture Soils video by Geoff Lawton
« on: May 12, 2013, 10:54:10 PM »
I took a few notes when watching Geoff Lawtons video "Permaculture Soils"

in one teaspoon of healthy soil, there is
1 billion bacteria
1 million fungi
10,000 amebas
and some protozoa
and some nematodes

1 acre of top soil can have up to 200 tons of life (as in little critters and what not that are alive)

says volume will not be reduced if making good compost.
reducing in size is not desired

a mulched bed takes 1/10 of the water as a bare soil bed

mulch will hold ⅓ of its thickness in water.  (3 inches of mulch will hold a 1 inch rain)
